This is the personal portfolio website of Donnie Avant. I take the protection of your personal data seriously. This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Personal data is only processed as described below: when the site is delivered to your browser, and when you choose to send me a message through the contact form.

3. Hosting (GitHub Pages)

This website is hosted by GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit the site, GitHub automatically processes technical access data (such as your IP address, date and time of access, the page requested, and your browser type) in server log files. This is necessary to deliver the website and to keep it secure.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and reliable provision of this website). Data may be processed in the USA. For such transfers, GitHub relies on the safeguards described in its privacy statement: GitHub General Privacy Statement.

4. Contact form (Formspree)

If you send me a message using the contact form, the information you enter (name, email address, company if provided, and your message) is transmitted to Formspree, Inc. (USA), which forwards it to me by email and stores it in my Formspree account. Formspree also processes technical data such as your IP address and the time of submission for delivery and spam protection.

Purpose: to respond to your inquiry. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your inquiry relates to a possible employment or contractual relationship, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering inquiries). Providing this information is voluntary, but I cannot reply without a name and email address.

I keep your message only as long as needed to handle your inquiry and delete it afterwards, unless legal retention obligations apply. Data may be processed in the USA; for details see Formspree's privacy policy.

5. Google Fonts

This website uses Google Fonts, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. When you open a page, your browser loads the fonts from Google's servers, which means your IP address is transmitted to Google. Google may also process data in the USA.

6. Local storage in your browser

If you use the language or light/dark mode buttons, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. This information stays on your device and is never sent to me or anyone else. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings. Legal basis: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, as this storage is strictly necessary to provide a feature you explicitly requested.

7. Links to other websites

This site links to my profiles on LinkedIn and GitHub. No data is sent to these services unless you click a link. Once you are on their websites, their own privacy policies apply.

8. Encryption

This website is delivered over an encrypted HTTPS connection, so data you send (for example through the contact form) cannot easily be read by third parties.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data I hold about you (Art. 15)
• have incorrect data corrected (Art. 16)
• have your data deleted (Art. 17)
• restrict processing (Art. 18)
• receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20)
• object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21)
